Full-day walking safari in Arusha National Park, You can easily start viewing the populations of wildlife like the giraffe, buffalo, zebras, and black and white colobus monkeys just after 30 minutes’ drive from Arusha city.
In the morning, we will collect you from your hotel in Arusha and take you to the Arusha National Park. The park has an incredible variety of fauna and flora, which cannot fail to impress. Hollywood also chose this region to film the movie “Hatari” in which Hardy Kruger starred alongside the legendary John Wayne. Your day trip will include a visit to the Ngurdo Crater. Buffaloes, waterbucks, giraffes, warthogs, zebras, and baboons can be seen all year round as well as many different bird species. At the Momella Gate, an armed ranger will be waiting to accompany you on the walking safari that will give you the chance to experience the wildlife up-close. Only a few other national parks in Tanzania give you such an opportunity and it is something that should not be missed. Lunch will be taken at a picnic place and in the afternoon, you will continue your tour in the safari vehicle through the Arusha National Park. After plenty of time allocated for you to observe the wildlife, we will take you back to Arusha.
Dinner and overnight at River Tree Lodge: Bed, dinner, breakfast, and lunch.
Today we drive to Tarangire National Park, for excellent game viewing. Tarangire is a small park that offers some excellent sights. Generally, in the dry seasons, Tarangire comes alive as wildlife and birdlife congregate on the Tarangire River, which is a permanent source of water.
We spend the night in our tented camp beautiful set outside the park with stunning views and a unique atmosphere.
Dinner and overnight at Tarangire Sangawe Tented Lodge: Bed, Dinner, Breakfast, and Lunch.
We depart from your campsite in Tarangire and proceed to Lake Manyara National Park. Although small in size, this park is one of the most diverse reserves in the country. Lake Manyara covers two-thirds of the park. In the backdrop is the wall of the Great Rift Valley, before which lies the groundwater forest, areas of open grassland near the lake foreshore, and the Soda Lake. We enjoy a picnic lunch in this area, which consists of open grassy areas, hot springs, dense woodlands, and steep mountainsides. Lake Manyara National Park is a birding paradise that has more than 350 species of bird. The park is also famed for its unique and elusive tree-climbing lions.
In the afternoon we drive to our campsite set inside the park for an overnight.
Dinner and overnight at Bougainvillea Lodge: Bed, Dinner, Breakfast, and Lunch.
Breakfast morning breakfast at the campsite, depart for Lake Eyasi safari to meet up the elusive Hadzabe and Datoga tribes, whom you learn more about their fascinating culture. Picnic lunch then we leave for Dagota village tour then back in the evening for the overnight.
Dinner and overnight at Lake Eyasi Ziwan Lodge: Bed, Dinner, Breakfast, and Lunch.
Start off early with your bushman guide to meet a group of resident Hadzabe people. Enjoy the Hadzabe Tour walking into the bush with the only hunter-gatherers remaining in the East African region. The Hadzabe speak a click-based language and move their encampments with the seasonal movements of the wildlife. Your guide is a member of the group and teaches you more about how they hunt, track wildlife, make fire, and even take honey from bee’s nests before introducing you to his people and explaining a little more about the customs and the way of life.
After the tour to Hadzabe and Datoga tribes, we will drive straight to Lake Natron.
Dinner and overnight at Lake Natron Tented Camp: Bed, Dinner, Breakfast, and Lunch.
Today you’ll experience the culture and traditions of the local Maasai at Lake Natron. Your local guide will show you the Maasai Boma and explain the way Maasai live; after a short visit in the Maasai boma, we will drive to Serengeti National Park for the overnight.
Dinner and overnight at Serengeti Special Campsite: Bed, Dinner, Breakfast, and Lunch.
We head towards the Serengeti National Park. We drive into the Serengeti itself and the rest of the afternoon is spent game viewing in the vast plains that are broken only by stands of acacia trees and the occasional kopje. In December, January and February we will normally meet the migration with large herds of wildebeest, zebra, and gazelle. There are always plenty of resident animals, such as giraffes, buffalo, and elephants, and many large predators such as lions, cheetahs, and leopards. We return to our special tented camp for the night.
Dinner and overnight at Serengeti Thorn Tree Tented Camp: Bed, Dinner, Breakfast, and Lunch.
We have another full day in this wonderful park, rising early to make the most of our time. Our guides will choose the best spotting locations for the time of year; we can spend time at the Hippo pool watching these majestic animals laze about in the cool water happily living alongside the crocodiles, watch a big pride of lions, be in the middle of the migration, sometimes surrounded by wildebeest, sometimes by zebras, which travel with the wildebeest. We journey from the wide-open plains to the kopjes: these volcanic rocky outcrops provide protection and shelter for a wide variety of animals and from the top, we can look out across the vast grasslands of the Serengeti. This diverse and interesting landscape will provide us with the ultimate in game viewing, we will hopefully see all of the plain games; elephants, giraffe, zebra, wildebeest, lions and if you are lucky the elusive leopard and cheetah, as well as huge amounts of the interesting birdlife, from the elegant secretary birds to the flightless ostrich. We return to our special tented camp for the night.
Dinner and overnight at Serengeti Thorn Tree Tented Camp: Bed, Dinner, Breakfast, and Lunch.
We start the day with an early morning game drive before heading to Ngorongoro Conservation Area. Ngorongoro is a special place in that it is a Conservation Area, not a National Park; this means that the whole area is managed for both the animals and the local Masai people who graze their cattle alongside the indigenous wildlife. During the drive-in Ngorongoro, we have a chance to glimpse something of the Masai way of life. After stopping at the entrance gate, where there is a chance to learn more about this fascinating volcanic landscape, we will drive around the rim of the Crater itself, and from here we can look down and see the herd of wildebeest or buffalos. Finally, we descend into the crater. The crater walls provide a natural sanctuary for the animals, which means there is plenty to see: lions, elephants, buffalo, rhino, and leopard (if you are lucky). The only animal you won’t see here is a giraffe, whose long legs are unable to cope with the steeps sides of the crater. In the afternoon we travel back to Arusha.
Dinner and overnight at River Tree Lodge: Bed, dinner and breakfast.
You will be transferred from Zanzibar airport to Stone Town, a scenic drive of approximately 45 minutes, giving you the opportunity to get a feel for this enchanting island. After check-in, you have the option of enjoying a fabulous seafood lunch before spending the afternoon soaking up the sun and adjusting to the relaxed pace of life on the coast.
You may want to explore the fascinating network of cobbled streets which make up Stone Town and get a feel for local life on the island.
Dinner and overnight at Emerson Spice Hotel: Bed, Dinner, and Breakfast.
Prison Island provides tourists with a glimpse into the island’s dark history. It is located about a half-hour boat ride from Zanzibar. This land was once used as a place where slaves were detained. Once slavery was abolished, it functioned as a quarantine camp for people with deadly diseases. Today the island is a nature reserve for giant tortoises and a place to see the ruins that once functioned as the prison.
After spice farm trip you will catch a boat to Prison Island.
Dinner and overnight at Emerson Spice Hotel: Bed, Dinner, and Breakfast.
Depending on your flight schedule and departure point, you will be transferred to the Zanzibar Airport to take a flight back home. If you are flying out of Dar es Salaam or Nairobi, we will arrange a connection flight for you to catch your flight back home.
