- Dinner and overnight at Arusha Mount Meru Hotel: Half board.
Today we drive to Tarangire National Park, for excellent game viewing. Tarangire is a small park that offers some excellent sights. Generally, in the dry seasons, Tarangire comes alive as wildlife and birdlife congregate on the Tarangire River, which is a permanent source of water. We spend the night in our tented lodge beautifully set outside the park with stunning views and a unique atmosphere.
- Dinner and overnight stay at Tarangire Simba Tented Lodge: Full board.
We will head towards the Serengeti National Park. En route, there is an opportunity to visit Olduvai Gorge. It is within this steep-sided ravine that Louis and Mary Leakey made some of the world’s most important archaeological discoveries in the 1950s. Here is a small museum, we are able to see evidence of our ancestors that have been dated back 2.5 million years.
After lunch, we drive into the Serengeti itself and the rest of the afternoon is spent game viewing in the vast plains that are broken only by stands of acacia trees and the occasional kopje. In December,
January and February we will normally meet the migration with large herds of wildebeest, zebra, and gazelle. There is always plenty of resident wildlife such as giraffes, buffalo, and elephants, as well as many large predators such as lions, cheetahs, and leopards. We’ll then return to our camp.
- Dinner and overnight at Serengeti Acacia Luxury Tented Lodge: Full board.

After breakfast departure from the Serengeti for an encore game drive in the Ngorongoro Crater. We will descend with into the famed Ngorongoro Crater for wildlife viewing. A large caldera, the crater formed when a giant volcano exploded and collapsed on itself some two to three million years ago. It is 610 m (2,000 ft) deep and its floor covers 260 km² (100miles²). Estimations of the height of the original volcano range from fifteen to nineteen thousand feet (4500 to 5800 meters). The crater has some of the highest densities of wildlife on the planet, including lion, elephant, zebra, rhino, leopard, buffalo, gazelle, wildebeest, hippo and many different bird species. The Ngorongoro Crater is well deserving of its UN World Heritage Site status and this experience will be a highlight of your tour.
- Dinner and overnight at Lake Ndutu Luxury Tented Lodge: Full board.
After breakfast at the lodge, you will proceed to Lake Eyasi. Lake Eyasi is a very scenic soda lake found on the southern border of the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. This less visited lake lies at the base of the Eyasi escarpment on the western rift valley wall. This afternoon you will be introduced to the extraordinary people who belong to an indigenous tribe known as the ‘Hadzabe’ (hunter-gatherer Bushmen). The tribe inhabits the shores of Lake Eyasi as do the Nilotic-speaking Datoga tribe. You will visit these tribes, which will include a visit to their homesteads, learn about their way of life, animal tracking, medicinal plants, and much more. Some wildlife and a wide range of bird species can be viewed during walks around the lake, which can be arranged.
- Dinner and overnight at Lake Ziwani Safari Lodge: Full board.
After breakfast at the lodge, we will proceed to Lake Manyara National Park. Lake Manyara National Park is one of Tanzania’s most dramatically located wildlife areas, consisting of a massive but shallow soda lake (covering two-thirds of the park) at the foot of the Great Rift Valley’s western escarpment. The park’s varied habitat attracts a wide variety of African animals, including one of Africa’s largest concentrations of elephants, Manyara’s famous tree-climbing lions, as well as large flocks of flamingos, attracted by the algae in the lake.
- Dinner and overnight at Lake Manyara Kilimamoja Lodge: Full board.
