The Gombe stream national park is located on the northeastern shore of Lake Tanganyika near the border with Burundi. Even though it is the smallest park in Tanzania, it has become world-famous through the pioneering work of the passionate Dr. Jane Goodall, who came to study the behavior of chimpanzees.
Bordered by Lake Tanganyika to the west and the high rift escarpment to the east, it has become a small isolated ecosystem and prime chimpanzee habitat. All Game Viewing at the Park is done on foot.
